posted 8/30/2009 4:57:24 PM Hey Guys,
Did anyone go to the Branson Reunion? That's one of my favorite places. How was the reunion? What did you do? How many came? Talk about it, guys. Is anybody still alive out there?

posted 8/30/2009 10:22:33 PM Dear Bert, Ken and I went to the reunion. There were perhaps 350 people at the banquet on Saturday night. It was very well organized by the Vanderhoef family. The hospitality rooms were well attended, although units did combine. I went to two group activities. One to the fish hatchery (a good excuse to talk to people on the bus) and Thursday evening a large group went to a show in Dolly Parton's theater. She was not there, but the show had several acts, including a contest between blue and gray cavalry.
The existing officers were reelected. Bill Lenches did quite a bit of videotaping for the Museum.
There was a talk by Edward Jones on the Battle of Herrlisheim. He has interviewed several German soldiers and also members of the 12th Armored. He says that a German general told him the 12th Armored was the toughest most tenacious division he faced. His book Crossing the Zorn, will be out in January.
After the banquet there was a sensational band with a wonderful young singer performing 1940s dance music. These musicians were all from the military.
You missed a spirited, fun reunion.

posted 8/31/2009 4:02:45 PM Mike, Thanks for the info about the reunion in Branson. It sounds like everybody had a good time. There is almost an endless number of family friendly shows and activities there. Don't worry about not seeing Dolly Parton at the Dixie Stampede; she's never there. She just lets them use her name for the publicity.
It would be great if someone would set up a web page (on Flickr or something similar so people could post their pictures of the reunion.
