posted 5/31/2010 7:05:23 PM My father was George J. Soper. He served in Company A of the 17th Armored Infantry Battalion. Prior to finding your website, that was all I knew of my father's service. My thanks also to F. George Hatt, Jr. for providing the 17th AIB Historical Information. I am still in search of my father's military records, however the information I found here provides a detailed account I would have never dreamed of learning. My father passed away March 11, 1994.

The following reply is for those who may want to know which memoirs from the 17th Armored Infantry Battalion are available. This message will be forwarded to the person who left the original message.
Dear "L Hunkle", Here are some other sources in the BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES list:
Ward McGill: THIS IS IT, THE REAL THING.
author not listed: MOUNT UP: HISTORY OF CO. C,
Carl Lyons: I forgot the title he was part of A-17.
Warren Maue: 23 LONG DAYS AND NIGHTS. he also was part of A-17,
In addition, take a look at the ORAL HISTORY VIDEOS. I will do this as well.
Yours truly, Mike Woldenberg
