My dad, Stephen (Steve) Mateik, DOD 7/1982, was a member of the 12th association till 1978.
Dog tag #31360414. Assistant machine gunner, blown out of three tanks, found three days after the last tank he was blown out of, came home in a body cast.
Looking for any friends, info, or some one to talk to.

Mary can put an announcement in the Hellcat
News.
Ask her if she has the book: A HISTORY OF THE 714TH TANK BATTALION. This book once existed, but we need to locate a copy, if
it still does exist.
If the book can be found, perhaps your father's story will be in it.

Thank you Mike. I did try to get a copy of his military records from the veterans administration, but was told that most records burned in a fire around 1976.
I'll try that contact. I hope I can find out more about him.
