Hello,
My father was also in the 12th AD for a while serving in the 66th Armored Infantry Battalion. The 66th and the 43rd Tank Battalion were in Combat Command A together and generally moved together. I looked on our list of 12th AD members but didn't see your Dad. That's not unusual - the list is incomplete. Do you have your Dad's discharge papers or any other documents that might help us find the company he was in? Companies at times were assigned in different locations. If we know which one he was in we can give you more information about his service. I will let Jackie Peterson Schadock, the 43rd Tank Battalion unit representative know of your search. She may also be able to give you more info on Your Dad. We may have a vet who knew him. Thanks for writing! Bob Scherer

My Father, Bob Bitting was in A/714thTB

Hello "Penguinsrock", James M. Thompson was in Company A of the 43rd Tank Battalion. He was a Sgt. T4. On the left side of this page, go to BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES. Scroll down to the 43rd
Tank Battalion. Read the whole book on the History of the 43rd. There is a chapter on each company.
There is more to read of course. For instance, on
the left, read: DEATH OF A COMBAT COMMAND.
This is about the battle of Herrlisheim.
